● Describe the need for the project.
What is the background and status of the project topic?
What is the overall goal/objective of the current project?
Why is this goal/objective important?
How does this project promote conservation of the marine environment?
● Provide the working hypothesis or intended objectives of the project.
● How will you approach the research?
Briefly describe the methodology, equipment, location, techniques, etc.
Are you aware of and will you be coordinating with other organizations working towards a similar goal?
Provide a timeline for the project.
● Detail the project leader’s credentials and expertise relevant to the project.
Include name, contact information (physical address and email), a brief resume demonstrating prior work in the field, and their role in the project.
● List any supplemental personnel involved with the project (i.e., number, job title(s), status as volunteer/employee/contractor, etc.).
● Describe permits, travel, and training needed for work to proceed. Indicate if any of these has already been achieve.
● Explain how the project will be evaluated?
How will results be applied to address the stated hypothesis or intended objective?
How will results be disseminated?
● Provide a budget and justification for the allocation of funds. What cost cutting measures will be applied?
(Note: Funds cannot to be used to lobby or for educational programming/materials or predominantly for travel).
● (For pilot project applications) What is the plan for funding in subsequent years?
● List any other financial awards from other sources that will be used for this project (e.g., funding currently applied for or previously received).
If more than one grant is to be used for this project, the direct impact of FOFFOS contributions should be clearly identifiable. How can the impact of FOFFOS’s contribution be identified?
